Another Subway Hero

Veeramuthu KalimuthuVeeramuthu Kalimuthu is the latest person to have a New York subway station become the venue for an act of heroism. Kali, as he is known, was waiting for his train home when he heard a commotion. A number of people were calling the police on cell phones because a man had fallen onto the tracks and was lying there unconscious. He had fallen from the platform on the other side of the station.

Kali took matters into his own hands and jumped onto the tracks, carefully avoiding the highly electrified third rails, and bounded across to help the man. The unconscious man was considerably heavier than Kali, but he managed to lift him on his shoulders and pass him up onto the platform. He then made sure the man was okay and ran back across the tracks in time to catch his train home.

Trains arrive at the station every three minutes. Indeed one arrived where the rescued man had been lying one minute after Kali left him. Someone else reported the story to the media – Kali just went home. He said later, “People should help people. If all of us get along well in this world then we’ll get a better world to live.”

The more heroes we have in this world, the less we have to worry about violence and crime. I like what you’re doing here Matt.
