“Supertramp” Runs Into Burning Building

andre-nash.jpgAndre Nash is homeless. He spends a lot of nights on a park bench. He was walking down the street after buying a pair of beers just before eight in the morning when a panicked boy showed him a fire on the eleventh floor of a nearby building. Nash ran into the building despite the thick smoke. He came back out with a father and two sons, quite possibly saving their lives. He then poured his beers on a rag to cover his face and went back in again. He had to retreat due to the blazing heat.

Andre Nash said, “I wasn’t even worried about my life. I am the guardian angel of the building. I just reacted.”

New York has a new hero for the new year. And they’re calling him the Supertramp.

The New York Post broke the story.

    That is pretty amazing.

A wonderful story. This also highlights heroism as a behavior, not an opportunity made available from status or wealth. The misnomer, “I’ll leave it to the experts or to those with experience” is officially dispelled.

Thanks Stephanie. And Chris and Adam. I love these kinds of stories. The guy obviously liked his beer, but he just dumped it on a rag so he could run back in to the blaze.

I find it interesting that this individual valued another person’s life more than his beer but valued his beer more than material possessions.
