Thank Yous, Hugs, and a Standing Ovation. How I Encouraged Middle School Kids to Change Their Worlds.

Last Friday, I presented my new talk to each grade at Grand Blanc West Middle School. The 6th graders lined up to thank me and shake my hand. The 7th graders hugged me. The 8th graders gave me a standing ovation. After the presentation a number of teachers canceled class for the rest of the day in order to break down the concepts I’d shared. Then over the weekend a 7th grade student organized an event for Monday, using the tactics I’d shared.

I can’t tell you how much of a glow I’ve had for the last four days. And, yes, I’m bragging a little bit.

The thing is, I believe this presentation connects with kids because it’s not preaching and it’s not presenting information that the kids know to be false or trite. I feel confident saying this, because I have the video to show you. I recorded the sessions on Friday and would love you to take the time to watch this 45 minute talk. Let me know what you think.
