Kal’s hero’s journey videos at http://www.clickok.co.uk/index4.html are better!

Well, they’re different. He’s written some good stuff, but my goal was a simple overview for kids. He’s speaking to professional writers.

Thanks! I could see the YouTube video. I’ve used more complex formats for them before, and it leaves them confused. I think having it boiled down to these main 5 steps makes it more useful for introductory lessons for elementary students. Thanks! I’ll be using it this week as part of my introduction to our fantasy – heroic- novels.

And frankly, suggesting that there are over 510 steps in every hero’s story is a bit much. If each step was a minute long, you’d have a movie over eight hours long. He’s selling a product for quite a bit of money that is summed up in Chris Vogler’s book. And Vogler did it first.

Great video – it really puts the steps in a simple, easy to remember form. Which, when life gets tough and we need to be heroes, is all that we will remember. The selection of videos is great too, something everyone young and old can relate to.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot Jensen. I’m looking forward to putting it in front of some kids for the new competition at herocompetition.com

This looks like what I need to use with my elementary students – but vimeo won’t load the video. Is it posted anywhere else?

You can download the video from Vimeo if it isn’t loading. I plan to get it onto YouTube this week. Are you able to view YouTube at school?

Yes, we can access YouTube. *grins* Amazing, huh? It would be wonderful if you can post it there. I teach Hero’s Journey each year in conjunction with Book of Three (Lloyd Alexander) and The Hobbit. I have yet to find a good, simple video that works for elementary kids. I’d love to watch this one and see if it would be a good match.
